This talk will be about the application of holography to dense QCD matter in neutron stars. After a lightning introduction to the gauge/gravity duality (aka holography) I will introduce the currently most advanced phenomenological model for holographic QCD and review some of its recent applications. Then I will present in more detail the first study (arXiv:1908.03213) where this model was used in numerical simulations of neutron star mergers. In the end I will comment on possible future applications of holographic QCD in astrophysical simulations.
