The astrophysical research at the GU is predominantly theoretical and organized in three main groups:
- Relativistic Astrophysics (led by L. Rezzolla, Chair of Theoretical Astrophysics)
- Nuclear Astrophysics and Cosmology (led by J. Schaffner-Bielich)
- Nuclear Physics and Astrophysics of Compact Stars (led by A. Sedrakian)
All of these groups are also deeply involved with the PHAROS COST Action, which uses compact stars to explore fundamental physics.
The Experimental Astrophysics research group is led by R. Reifarth.
