This research group is lead by Jürgen Schaffner-Bielich.
The focus of our research are the theoretical description of the properties of hot and dense matter as created in core-collapse supernovae, neutron star mergers, (proto-)neutron stars or the early universe at about a few microseconds after the big bang.
There are strong relations to the exploration of the nuclear equation of state and in-medium properties of hadrons in relativistic heavy-ion collisions, nuclear and hypernuclear structure and effective models of the underlying theory of strong interactions, quantum chromodynamics (QCD).
