I will outline many implications, possibilities and potential problems of the two-families scenario in which hadronic stars can co-exist with strange quark stars. My talk will be mainly based on the following papers: Eur.Phys.J. A52 (2016) no.2, 40 and 41 Phys.Rev. D93 (2016) no.10, 103001 Mon.Not.Roy.Astron.Soc. 462 (2016) no.1, L26-L30 EPJ Web Conf. 137 (2017) 09004 and on the paper in preparation with G.Wiktorowicz, S.Popov and G.Pagliara on a rather detailed population synthesis analysis of quark stars in binary systems.
