Black Holes and Their Memory

Antonia Frassino, Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS), Germany

I will talk about an old asymptotic symmetry of the spacetime, the BMS group, and the new conserved charges associated with it: Recent developments show that the BMS symmetry has strong connections with quantum field theory and the memory effect. After an introduction to the topic, I will present our results about a stationary and a collapsing black hole solution and suggest that they could be studied in this framework.
